Solar system price: panels, inverter, battery and installation
The cost of a solar system includes more than panels. Ask each installer for the same scope so you can compare equipment and labour fairly: panels, inverter, mounting structure, cables, protection, earthing and installation.
Battery storage is a separate decision. It adds cost and must match the inverter’s supported voltage, charging requirements and communications. An on-grid system without suitable backup equipment should not be assumed to power your home during a grid outage.
Start with recent electricity bills and list the appliances that must run together. Your bill measures energy in kWh; an appliance’s power rating is measured in watts or kW. Roof space, shading and daytime consumption also affect the design.

System sizes / Plan before you buy
1kW, 3kW, 5kW and 10kW solar panel budgets
A system’s advertised size does not tell you how many panels an installer will use. Start with the panel wattage, multiply it by the quantity, and compare the resulting DC array capacity. The inverter’s AC rating is a separate figure.

Arithmetic examples only, not installation quotes or recommended string designs. The panel quantities round up to reach each target. An installer must check electrical limits and roof layout. Inverter, battery, structure, wiring, protection, labour, delivery and applicable charges are excluded.
Compare a 5kW quote fairly
If one quote includes nine panels and another includes ten, the equipment totals are different even if both are described as a “5kW system”. Ask for the panel count, wattage, total DC capacity and inverter rating on separate lines. Then compare the same battery capacity and installation scope.
Size a 10kW system around your usage
Collect your electricity bills and note which appliances run during daylight. A larger array does not automatically solve every backup requirement. Night-time loads, roof shading and the inverter’s backup output need separate consideration before an installer proposes the final design.

For buyers in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan or Faisalabad, a national price page is a starting point. This page does not claim a separate verified market rate for each city. Request a delivered quote for your address and compare the exact same model, quantity and warranty service.
1. Write down the product
Record the complete model code, rated watts, condition, quantity and the seller’s invoice details. A brand name and “A-grade” label alone do not identify the product you will receive.
2. Compare delivered cost
Ask whether the quoted amount includes delivery, unloading, taxes and payment-related charges. A lower advertised per-watt figure can become a higher total once the missing items are added.
3. Confirm after-sales support
Ask who receives a warranty claim, where the panel must be sent and what documents are required. Keep the invoice and serial numbers. Product warranty and output warranty can cover different issues.
A simple quote comparison example
Suppose two suppliers quote the same 585W model: Rs. 40/W and Rs. 41/W. The difference is Rs. 585 per panel, or Rs. 5,850 for ten panels. Compare delivery and written service terms before deciding whether that difference represents a saving. This example compares arithmetic, not two real suppliers.
Understand the label
N-type, bifacial and double-glass solar panels
Technology and construction are different
Terms such as N-type, TOPCon, bifacial and double glass describe different features. Bifacial describes a panel that can collect light on both sides. Double glass describes its construction. Do not assume two panels are equivalent because the seller uses one of these terms for both.
Use the manufacturer’s datasheet for the full model code. Compare dimensions, weight and electrical ratings with the proposed installation, and ask the installer to explain any difference between the datasheet and quotation.
Rear-side output depends on the roof
A bifacial panel needs useful light reaching the rear side. Roof reflectivity, clearance and mounting shadows affect that opportunity. A percentage in a sales pitch should not be treated as a guaranteed increase on your roof.

How to calculate solar panel cost per watt
Panel price ÷ rated wattage = price per watt. If a 585W panel is quoted at Rs. 23,400, the rate is Rs. 40/W. To calculate a panel budget from a per-watt quote, multiply watts × rate × number of panels.
Ten 585W panels have a combined nameplate DC capacity of 5.85kW. This does not mean they produce 5.85kW continuously: real output changes with sunlight, temperature, shading and system losses.

Use your supplier’s quoted rate to compare different panel sizes. The table below applies an illustrative Rs. 40 per watt to each wattage; these are arithmetic examples, not verified selling prices for these products.

How many panels are needed for a 5kW solar array?
Nine 585W panels total 5,265W, or 5.265kW of nameplate DC capacity. This arithmetic does not confirm a suitable design. Your installer must check roof layout, string voltage and current, inverter limits, shading and energy requirements.
Are bifacial solar panels always better?
No. Rear-side generation depends on reflected light, clearance, mounting and shading. Compare the full installation design and cost instead of assuming the same additional output on every roof.
Does a low price per watt mean the best value?
